It all started with the first Kindle initially available only in the US in November 2007 at a cost of US$399, which sold out in just over five and a half hours and was out of stock for five months until late April 2008. It finally became available worldwide 18 months later and has gone through a multitude of transformations since.

Since 2014 Amazon have branched out into the range of voice-controlled intelligent personal assistants responding to the wake-up word Alexa, including the Echo, Spot, Show, and Look (US only at present). Additionally, there is the Firestick to connect to the TV – very soon this will have a new kid on the block – the Fire TV Cube, again currently only available in the US.

Recent reports indicate that Amazon will be expanding their market for these devices and that some, although probably not all, will be available later in 2018 and in fact just his month Amazon has announced that several of the Echo range, including the Echo itself, Dot and Spot will all be going on sale in Spain at Amazon.es on 30 October, initially at a discount of up to 40%.

Getting the Alexa app on your Smartphone and setting everything up can be tricky so if any member would like help with any matters relating to Amazon devices, they can request joining the Amazon devices discussion Group by sending an email to: jcc-everythingamazon+subscribe@googlegroups.com
