COLLECTING THE TIE CARD

Time to collect our Cards, on to their website again using the – https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpco/index.html

We went through the same set-up as with the appointment to see what dates are available, it was noticeable that collection dates are not on the website until a few days before hand.

From the “Tramites cuerpo Nactional de PolicÍa” (National Police Force Procedures) drop–down list, we selected the second one down – POLICIA- EXPEDICIÓN/RENOVACIÓN DE DOCUMENTOS DE SOLICITANTES DE ASILO.   Again you need enter on the next screen.

The same information need as before, NIE Name Mobile telephone and e-mail address – just enter and a date and time is there if you want to attend that day and time to collect your card,  if not, wait and chose another day..

We had our date and time selected, and the text message came in to add the code that was given to both of us, then it was all confirmed which we printed out.

We showed this to the policeman at the entrance and he directed us to one of the booths.

We took all of our documents that were given back to us at the first appointment, green form, passport ect, the police office dealing with us only took the green form and then took our finger prints again, lucky for me it was only two attempts, Cynthia was at the next counter and had at least 6 attempts with the finger printing, still not sure if that was OK or they just gave up.

From start to finish it took about 7 minutes for the both of us.  Next one is due in 2031 unless we move home or they decide to change again!!

First stage: Reading a number of Help-Line comments from JCC member’s experiences regarding applying for TIE cards (Tarjeta de identidad de extranjero) and the collection of these, it surprised me just how different each and everyone’s was.   In the earlier posts members mentioned the different amounts being paid to third parties, even two of my friends paid much different amounts, one couple 60 euros each plus IVA, including being taken to Alicante with 2 other people in the third parties car, but had to collect the cards themselves, whilst the other couple paid 90 euros each and like the JCC members went to Alicante themselves.

With Covid 19 restrictions being lifted and our desire to travel again outside of Spain, we decided to go for the Card rather than have to use the green form which had not seen the light of day since 2010.   So onto the JCC website and followed the instructions on how to fill in the paper work forms EX23 and, why was it so easy, had I done it all correct, so read it again, yes I had.

Down to the bank, and remember Morris saying that he used the Bar Code Reader, so we did the same and we are now ready to make the appointments.  I did not want to go to Alicante which seemed to be the only option, so for the next 13 days I looked if Denia was available 3 times each day (9.15, 12.30 and 17.00) and presto on the 14th day it was, so both laptops open, (another Help Line tip from Morris) both filled in the details required and entered, both received text messages with a code which we both entered, confirmation followed a minute or so later, me at 11.45 and Cynthia 12.00 three weeks later.

If you don´t know Denia, even if you do, it is a nightmare to park at the best of times, but we knew a good place with cars in and out all the time, 400 metres from the office.   We were 35 minutes early so a coffee in the bar opposite, sparse but clean, good coffee and only 1.25 euros, the cheapest we had for many a year around the world.

Presented ourselves at 11.35 to the policeman at the door and was told to wait, there were about a dozen other people waiting outside with a couple of benches with 4 sitting on them, just as well it was a nice sunny day.

11.40 The policeman calls my name and in I go to the far end of the counter where the young lady (they are all young to me) just eye contact, no words, I pass my plastic folder to her which contains all the forms needed, she takes what she wants and puts the others back in the folder including the paper clips, then she scans the photo and beckons me to sign beneath it and scans it, put the photo back in my folder, 4 minutes tops.   Now for the finger printing, 4 goes at it, the screen cleaned twice, liquid spayed on my fingers and she indicates for me to rub it in, tries once again, not sure if she gives up but then hands me a form informing me when and how to collect the Tie Card but not before a stamped date, and through the internet for an appointment, no words have been spoken throughout I am good to leave.

Policeman follows me out and calls Cynthia´s name and she goes through the same process as me, but only 3 times with the finger printing, we are on way home at 12.00.  First part of the process completed with much help of the excellent “Help-Line” advice and Website instructions.
