I can’t believe it’s not Windows!

This Thursday, July 14th, We will take a look at an alternative to Windows which looks and works a lot like Windows though it’s not made by Microsoft or Apple. i.e. the Linux Operating system. Linux has a number of advantages, e.g. It’s free, works on older hardware and doesn’t keep bothering you about updates all the time. Also it’s less susceptible to malware and viruses. Scotty has used nothing else on his laptops for years. He will tell us a bit about the origins of Linux (why that Penguin logo?) and will show us around Linux Ubuntu ver 20.10. There are various varieties of Linux (known as “distros”, short for distributions) and we’ll look at Linux Zorin (Peter’s favourite) and Linux Mint (Chris’s choice). Come along and see what Scotty (and Peter and Chris) are getting all excited about.
