Loads of apps on my smartphone insist on knowing my location – why? what’s in it for me, the owner? Do they really need to know where I am all the time? Why does it get it wrong sometimes? Is it safe to turn “location” off ? If so, how and what are the downsides? This Thursday, December 15th we’ll look at Location Services on smartphones, how the information is used by Apps, and how they can be really useful if you have lost your husband/wife (sorry – Life Partner these days), lost yourself and want to be found, or forgotten where you parked your car (an increasingly common occurrence among long term JCC members!)
