Weather Apps and sites

On Thursday July 28th, Chris kicked off by looking at the live, HD WebCam at Gandia beach hosted on Ibericam: https://ibericam.com/valencia/webcam-gandia-playa-de-gandia/ This streams continuously without interruption and you can watch a 24 hour Timelapse which is fun. We discovered that other Webcam feeds in the area were not as good and seemed to get stuck. She then went to show the Android Apps installed on her phone.

AEMET – app from the Spanish Met Office

Android Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details/El_tiempo_de_AEMET?id=es.aemet&hl=es_US&gl=US

Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/es/app/el-tiempo-de-aemet/id784646178

Old fashioned in appearance, and only in Spanish however there are no advertisements. Chris likes it for travel because because you can make a list of the municipalities you are interested in and the app gives a table of alerts for extreme weather categorised under region, so you can see if it’s going to be too hot (or wet) to go there!

Spanish App, though you can configure the language to English. Often more “optimistic” than AEMET and has short video weather forecasts
“Find out about the weather wherever you are with the leading weather information application in Spain. With the home page, geolocated, you will easily access the hourly forecast and 14 days of more than 500,000 locations, airports, football stadiums, schools, bullrings, beaches, and golf courses Our meteorological experts, Mario Picazo and Mar Gómez, among others, will offer you the latest news and weather forecasts through our news and videos.”

Rain Alarm:

Android : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mdiener.rain.usa&hl=en&gl=US

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rain-alarm-live-weather-radar/id397676100

Rain Alarm reliably warns you of rain or snow approaching your location using push notifications. Instead of predicting probabilities, we use real time data to warn you as soon as precipitation approaches you.

The app displays and animates the latest Doppler-radar images from many weather services around the world.

FlowX:

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enzuredigital.weatherbomb&hl=en&gl=US

” If geeking out over maps, graphs, and predictions is your thing, check out Flowx. Formerly known as Weatherbomb, the app provides users with a rich array of charts, forecasts, and weather maps presented in a scrolling animated forecast timeline. Users can have the app center on their location automatically, or set custom locations.

Flowx can display a variety of data overlays, such as precipitation, clouds and wind direction arrows, with data sourced from the NWS/NOAA and Environment Canada. The app is ad-supported, with an optional subscription that removes ads and rewards the developer.

Flowx remains an Android-only app, but the app’s website(opens in new tab) appears to be soliciting feedback for a version that works with Apple’s devices.”
