Charity Giving 2024

This is a summary of the individual amounts we have given to charities during 2024 totalling 1780€.

Well done to our members for donating their unwanted devices for recycling and eating lots of cake!

On 8 June 2024 we donated 500€ to Todos Juntos for helping the Javea School for Autistic children. This donation was gratefully received by Ruben Sanchez Pencha, Director of the School especially as it will go towards running the Summer School, which is hugely beneficial to families in the area.

On 15 June 2024 we donated 500€ to the Women’s Refuge in Pedreguer following a plea from them for help for a number of women and children who had been admitted without sufficient clothes and shoes.

Coordinator, Irene Navarrete Membrilla was extremely grateful for our quick and generous donation, saying ‘this amount will help tremendously to provide new items where these were essential to complement items of clothing donated from charity shops in the area’.

On 9 Dec 2024 following the devastating effects of the DANA in Cattaroja, Valencia, we donated 280€ plus a printer and laptop to Persianas Gamez which is a family run business supporting 4 family members and 4 employees. They needed urgent financial help to get the business up and running again.

This need was brought to our attention by our abogado Laura Miralles of Impley SL, to help them recover from being wiped out by the floodwater.

They were included in a scheme set up in response to the emergency to help businesses – here’s a link to the website of that scheme https://adoptauncomercio.com/?post_type=comercios&s=persianas+gamez

On 18 Dec 2024 we sent 500€ to Project4All who provide meals every day to homeless people from Javea to Calpe. They also have a halfway house in Benissa, where they help homeless people to rebuild their lives with help and support.

They also helped with practical support for the people in Valencia affected by the DANA floods, taking food and water initially and then furniture and appliances as people moved back into their homes. This work continues even now.

We still have an amount in the bank account held for charity and the Committee will decide where that can best be sent but we welcome any suggestions from members.
