On Thursday 8 January at 11.00 am, Chris will repeat her presentation “The Red String of Fate”, first delivered at the Xàbia museum last December. As several JCC members were unable to attend the original talk, which was apparently very well received, Chris has offered to present it again in the more informal setting of the Club premises. The presentation will last about 1 hour 15 minutes (Note for U3A members: Chris will also be giving this presentation yet again for the U3A at the Jávea Players Studio on Thursday 15th at 2.30 pm) Here’s a reminder of the publicity blurb: The story of how my parents came to meet in China during WWII is worthy of a Netflix drama, with danger, romance, cliff-hangers, tragedy, twists and turns, and a touch of fantasy. We will learn about the pacifist Quakers, pre-war Shanghai, the turmoil in East Asia in the face of Japanese aggression and lives uprooted then planted afresh by the fortunes of war.
